Why get a facial?

This procedure utilises a range of different treatments for the skin on the face. Facial treatments are extremely popular among those looking to take good care of their skin and maintain a youthful look. Regularly looking after your face can take years off your life and slow down the aging process, resulting in less wrinkles, with much smoother and healthier looking skin, as well as a more even complexion.

The whole procedure is fairly quick and is entirely safe and affordable. The range of facials offered by Oasis Beauty Salon include traditional facials, Galvanic Facial and express facials - which are good for those looking to book an appointment during a lunch break - and microdermabrasion facials.

What does a facial involve?

You'll be consulted by our trained professional, who will examine your skin type and condition, before then cleansing and moisturising your skin through a relaxing massage. Your pores will be opened up using a gentle steaming procedure, before your pores are then exfoliated and unclogged, removing all built up dirt and sebum.

We may then apply a facial mask to soften and smooth the skin, which is left on for a short period of time. Once this is removed and washed away, you should notice that your skin feels refreshed and far more supple than it was before.

Benefits of a facial

Facials can help to unblock pores that have become clogged with dirt and grease. Dead skin cells are gently removed from the face through a process called exfoliation, whilst pores are deep-cleansed using a facial cleanser. You just cannot get the same level of pore cleansing at home than you get from a Galvanic facial. This is typically combined with the use of gentle steaming, which opens up the pores for exfoliation.

Choosing the right oils and serums means that the skin on your face will be hydrated and moisturised, restoring the gentle balance and combating dryness.

You'll also find the procedure very relaxing. The face is an extremely sensitive area and is receptive to the gentle pressures and touches involved with a facial treatment. Our therapists are well-trained and understand how to apply specialised techniques in order to deliver the best and most relaxing treatment.

After the treatment

There are a number of tips you should follow after having a facial, in order to preserve the restorative effects of the treatment.

Firstly, you should try to avoid humid temperatures such as saunas or extremely hot showers. The combination of heat and steam can undo the effects of the treatment and cause irritation to the pores. You should also try to avoid direct sunlight for a short period of time, as the skin may be more sensitive to the sun's rays.

Secondly, you should avoid harsh face washes or cleansers. Your face has just been through a lot of treatment and needs some time to breathe and repair, not to be irritated by other chemicals.

Finally, if you had any pimples in the making, it's likely they'll come to the surface following your treatment. Let them run their course and don't pick at your face, as you'll cause damage to the skin.
